Greenville, Maine – Friends of the Mountain (Friends) and the Moosehead Lake Region Economic Development Corporation (MLREDC) will publicly launch their campaign to raise $5.95 million to purchase the 1,700-acre Big Moose Mountain Ski property on Saturday, January 18, at 4:00 pm at the Mountain lodge located at 447 Ski Resort Road, Greenville Junction.
“This is an opportunity for us to share more information about our exciting plans,” says Friends Executive Director Amy Lane, “and we look forward to hearing everyone’s comments and questions.”
The goal of the Ski the View, Save the Mountain campaign is to provide a permanent nonprofit ski area for the Moosehead Lake Region and a year-round outdoor recreational asset that will revitalize the area’s economy. “The importance of a thriving ski resort to the Moosehead Lake Region is undeniable,” says MLREDC President Margarita Contreni. “Investing in it now would result in more jobs, more children in our local school, and greater economic activity overall.”
Maine singer and song writer Chris Ross will perform the hour before and after the event, and refreshments will be served. The public is invited.
