We strive to ensure that the Moosehead Lake Region shines brightly on both local and global stages.
The Moosehead Lakeshore Journal is run by only two full-time employees, who happen to be a mother-daughter team. Meet Heidi, Editor and Emily, her daughter and Assistant Editor!
Heidi St. Jean is a lifelong resident of the Moosehead Lake Region. She is noted from her role as Editor for the Award-Winning Moosehead Messenger, a past weekly newspaper in the Moosehead Lake Region. She is a devoted mother and grandmother. She has a creative spirit and enjoys promoting the region that she loves. Heidi has worked as a Marketing Director for many businesses in the area. You might say that marketing and promotion is her forte’.
Emily also grew up in Greenville, graduating from Greenville Consolidated School in 2009 and going on to earn her Bachelor's in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Maine in 2013, graduating summa cum laude. Though her education wasn't in journalism, Emily has had a lifelong passion for the written word and enjoys writing for the newspaper, as well as using her creative eye to build custom ads for the Journal's valued advertisers. She is a mother of two, bonus mom to three more, and loves good coffee and houseplants.
Together, Heidi and Emily have proven that print isn't dead- far from it! They now have around 700 subscribers from all over the country, sell thousands of papers off the stands from Jackman to Dover-Foxcroft, and have garnered a large social media following (33,000+ on Facebook alone in two years). They even broke a story last year that was picked up by the New York Times. Are you ready to "dive into lake life" yet? What are you waiting for?
