BREWER — Northern Light Health president and CEO Timothy Dentry today announced upcoming leadership transitions at Northern Light Mercy Hospital in Portland, Northern Light CA Dean Hospital in Greenville, Northern Light Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, and the Northern Light Health Foundation.
Charlie Therrien, senior vice president of Northern Light Health, president of Northern Light Mercy Hospital, and president of the Northern Light Health Foundation, will step down from his position this fall as previously planned.
Therrien has served in leadership roles at Northern Light Health for 15 years, including leading Mercy Hospital since 2016 and previously serving as president of Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital. At Mercy, Therrien oversaw the completion of the hospital’s campus consolidation, an expansion of services, and the development of many strategic relationships that advanced the clinical care at Mercy. At the Foundation, Charlie was integral in helping to forge strategic relations with donors and community.

We will miss him and wish him many years ahead reflecting on a great career at Northern Light Health.”
Therrien will be succeeded at Mercy by Marie Vienneau, BSN, FACHE, who currently serves as senior vice president and regional president, Northern Light Health, and president, Northern Light CA Dean and Mayo Hospitals. A nurse and healthcare leader in Maine for more than three decades, Marie has a successful history of bridging the gap between leadership decisions and patient access and engagement. At Mayo Hospital, Marie guided the hospital to a merger agreement with Northern Light Health and implemented service enhancements in Oncology, the Special Care Unit, and the Emergency Department. In recent years, Marie oversaw completion of the new CA Dean Hospital in Greenville and the development of Maine’s only mobile mammography service.
Randy Clark, MBA, senior vice president, Northern Light Health, and president, Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital and Northern Light Continuing Care, Lakewood, will add CA Dean and Mayo Hospitals to his areas of oversight. An accomplished leader with decades of experience in finance and operations, Randy joined Northern Light Health in 1996 as a controller with Sebasticook Valley Hospital (SVH), became vice president of Finance in 2005, vice president of Finance and Operations in 2016, and president of SVH in April of 2022. He has been an active member of the Financial Management Association since 1997. He is also a member of the Maine Hospital Association Public Policy Council and the Maine Hospital Association Board. Randy started the Pittsfield Business Consortium, consisting of Pittsfield business, to discuss current economic issues as well as the Pittsfield Businesses Walk for Hunger to raise funds for free community Drive-Up Food Events held at SVH.
Cynthia Faulkner, vice president of philanthropy services, Northern Light Health Foundation, will become president of the Foundation. An experienced philanthropy leader with a strong record of developing and executing fundraising, communication, and advocacy strategies, Cynthia will oversee all aspects of philanthropy for the statewide Foundation. Cynthia has worked to build strategic relationships with community members and supporters of Northern Light Health for more than a decade and has played an instrumental role in several capital campaigns across the system.
The leadership changes at Mercy Hospital, CA Dean Hospital, Mayo Hospital, and the Northern Light Health Foundation will be effective October 5.
