18th Annual Thoreau-Wabanaki Trail Festival

July 24 - July 26

The 18th Annual Thoreau-Wabanaki Trail Festival takes place Wed-Fri, July 24-26, 2024, East Cove, downtown Greenville, Moosehead Lake. Days showcase a wood & canvas canoe exhibition/presentation by Maine’s Master Wooden Canoe Builders from Piscataquis County, best in nation; Birding experts guided Nature Walk; and children’s guided Nature Walk, story time with Greenville Educators. Evening programs: “The Great Canoe Loop” with Penobscot Guide Ryan Kelley; “It’s for the Birds!” with region’s birding experts Bob Duchesne, Alexandra Conover Bennett, and Maine Bird Atlas Pro Kate Weatherby; “Thoreau-Polis Relationship to Land Movement” with Univ. of Maine’s Dr. Darren Ranco. A Cultural Immersion canoe/camping trip by Penobscot Nation Cultural & Historic Preservation Dept. precedes the Festival, Sun-Tues, July 21-23.
